A few of my recent favourite cakes
Now don’t get me wrong. I love all my cakes equally… just as though they were all my tiny little puppies, but some just make me so proud to be doing what I’m doing. There’s nothing better than putting the finishing touches on a cake and then taking a step back and thinking “Wow, I actually just made that cake right there!”
Here are a few of my recent faves in no particular order
-
- Damask Wedding Cake – I recently purchased an airbrush. BEST BUY EVER! I wanted this cake to have a very vintage feel to it. Rolling a zillion little fondant balls was definitely worth it
-
- 23rd Champagne Birthday Cake – For those of you who don’t know what a champagne birthday is, it’s the birthday where you turn the year of the date. For example, this was a cake delivered on the 23rd of July for someone turning 23. Too bad mine happened when I was 4!
-
- Gucci Bag Cake – You’ve gotta love the cakes that don’t look like cakes. I loved making this one. I printed the fondant by hand before laying it over the cake. Next adventure… Louis Vuitton
-
- Flower Baby Shower Cake – This was a cake I made for a joint baby shower for my cousins actually. Their due dates are just days apart. One of them is having a girl, and the other one is leaving it a surprise. I love being Aunite Sheila. They’re coming really soon!
-
- Snow White Birthday Cake – The design of this cake is so simple, yet so fabulous. I didn’t want to take away from the detail of the doll on top so I didn’t do anything too intricate. In this case, less was more. And I love using primary colours. I kind of wanted to keep this one for myself to be honest.
-
- Nintendo Birthday Cake – Ok funniest delivery story EVER! First of all, this kid freaked out when he saw this cake. He jumped up and down a little with a HUGE smile on his face. And then all of a sudden, his face completely dropped and he looked like he was on the verge of tears. I took a quick look at the cake to make sure it didn’t have bird shit on it or something but it was fine. He then said “I’m sad because my dad’s going to eat it all” :(
-
- Romantic Wedding Cake – Here’s me testing out my piping skillz yo. Not too shabby but I still have a far way to go. When I delivered this cake, it looked like it was at home. Man I love when that happens!
